PREMIUM PAD CLOTH CHOICES

        Two schools of thought for USA pad cloth:

        1.    muslin bed sheeting - first line SQ increases the pad life more abrasion resistant.

        2.    shirting material- first and second line softer easier to quilt but less pad life.

MULTI-COLOR PAD CLOTH CHOICES

        Multi-Color pad cloth is divided into two groups:

        1.    Solid colors with no dye leader cloth or heavy weight dark colors that could bleed.

        2.    Solid colors with no pre-sorting: Dark, red, white, printed patterns, etc.

WAREHOUSE PAD CHOICES

Warehouse pad cloth is divided into two groups: blue poly vs. blue/varied poly

PAD CLOTH SEWING PROCEDURE CHOICES

First Line pad cloth sewing procedures is divided into two choices of manufacturing technics:

sewing the two panel of cloth together or overlapping the rolls.

        The major drawback to overlapping is in the finished quality of the pad.

        1.    By placing the pad cloth rolls directly on the quilting machine, no inspecting is

                done to the pad cloth quality.

                *Our sewing department fiscally inspects every yard prior to rolling for defects

                   in weave, soil or color variation.

        2.    When an exposed edge is left on the pad face it will snag on furniture corners or edges.

PAD WEIGHT PER DOZEN

PAD FINISHED SIZE

        Several USA Pad manufacturers hold their prices by undercutting all their pads. A normal

72" x 80" cut size should not vary more than 2" on the length. A difference of more than 2" in the

length is an intentional method of reducing their pad cost. For example if a pad has a finished cut

size measurement of 68" X 80" instead of 70" x 80" that 2" x 80" difference would equal a 3%

savings in the cost for the manufacturer.

PAD FILLER has either 100% cotton batting or shoddy or a blend of shoddy and cotton.

The KC Pad has changed all the standards.

PAD QUILTING PROCEDURE

        Most USA Pads use lock stitch on the high end pads and double lock chain on the

low end grades.
